New MedRIC Data Request Form for NHATS Data

We are pleased to announce that we have developed a MedRIC Data Request Form for National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS)-linked CMS data files.

This new Form enables you to request the CMS data of NHATS study participants through ResDAC and CMS, using a form that matches our data inventory and NHATS's options.

In terms of specific CMS data types, you can now request:

  • 2006-2018 Parts A & B data (IP);
  • 2009-2018 Parts A & B data (DM, HH, HS, OP, PB and SN);
  • 2006-2018 Part D Event data;
  • 2006-2012 MAX data;
  • 2009-2018 MDS data;
  • 2009-2018 IRF-PAI; and
  • 2009-2018 OASIS data.

Action Items for Researchers who Do Not have CMS Authorization for These Data

If you need Medicare, Medicaid, and/or assessment data for your NHATS-related study and do not have a CMS DUA in place, we recommend holding off on submitting a new data request, as the process for requesting CMS-linked data from our Center is shifting to a faster, streamlined process in the coming weeks. We will provide a detailed overview of the new data request process via email once it is finalized.

If you need Medicare, Medicaid, and/or assessment data for your NHATS-related study and are currently in the process of requesting these data from CMS, we recommend working with ResDAC to determine whether to modify your existing request or create a new one.

Action Items for Researchers who Already Have CMS Authorization for These Data

If CMS has already authorized you to receive the data types listed above for your NHATS-related study, please complete the MedRIC Request Form for NHATS' CMS Data. Once you complete the Form, you will need to submit it, along with other ResDAC materials, to ResDAC at resdac@umn.edu. ResDAC will then review your request and assist you with next steps.
